Coburger & Bergische Kartonagenfabrik: Packaging has a future
![]() |
The Coburger & Bergische Kartonagenfabrik has been providing commercial and technical traineeships for decades. Health aspects are also high up on the list of priorities.
The application of the KAIZEN & CIP (continuous improvement process) principle has generated, among other things, target agreements, idea management, knowledge databases and their continuous expansion.
This requires an extensive internal training programme. The long-term teaching of commercial and technical professions is a tradition at both training organisations. "This is the only way, also in the long term, to bring innovative and market-focused packaging solutions onto the market with motivated and well qualified staff," says Marcus Gebler, Member of the Board of Management.
The common held belief is that "the young people of today are the technical staff of tomorrow". The company has entered into a long-term cooperation with training institutes and municipalities to promote itself as a potential employer in the region.
We can only fulfil our own claims - "we produce more than just packaging" as well as "the focus of our work is our customer" - with a broad-based knowledge of all demographic groups" - Co-boss Marcus Gebler adds.
The heart of the company is the person as an individual as well as his or her health as the most valuable workforce asset.
The introduction of a health management system into the company has augmented these efforts still further. The commitment shown by the Coburger Kartonagenfabrik has been honoured by the AOK in Bavaria with the AOK BGF Award.
Based on this approach the Bergische Kartonagenfabrik is now utilising existing synergy effects to further supplement existing staff health promotion projects on an individual site basis.
In addition, there is the possibility of undertaking a virtual tour through both plants in order to become even better acquainted with this successful, family run company group.

Environment and Packing
![]() |
The folding box packing system has proven to be one of the most environmentally friendly packing options for manufacturers of a vast range of product. We, too, make our contribution to the added-value and recycling chain as well as sustainability.
This begins with the raw materials used, covers the ancillary and service fluids and ends with recycling. Examples for this are the energy-optimised production plants, the internal energy and waste management, the consumption-optimised fleet, FSC & BRC certification and naturally in this relationship the respective packing advice from A-Z..
